Start a Team Wells Fargo/Wachovia

Forming your own Wells Fargo/Wachovia bike tour team is a great way to demonstrate your commitment to finding a cure for MS. You'll motivate your friends, family, and co-workers to join you in this amazing journey. Each Team Wells Fargo/Wachovia must consist of at least four people, one of whom must be a Wells Fargo/Wachovia employee. After recruiting three riding buddies, contact your local chapter of the MS Society and notify them that you are assembling a Team Wells Fargo/Wachovia.

Follow these recommendations to ensure your team is a success:

  1. Expand your team by advertising. Post flyers and make announcements in business unit newsletters or team meetings as appropriate. This will help you to locate cyclists to join your team.
  2. Form committees. It may seem like a daunting task to run a Bike Tour team while keeping up with your work and family obligations, so ask your team members to help. Team Captains can easily delegate the ordering and distribution of team jerseys, organization of team events/fundraisers, and coordination of training rides.
  3. Order team clothing. The only team clothing that can bear the Wells Fargo name or logo is sold by our approved vendor. The Wells Fargo/Wachovia Corporate Branding department has approved a standard design for cycling team clothing for men and women. You may not create your own design. The team offers professional quality short sleeved jerseys and shorts. Currently, the jerseys cost $53 and shorts are $53. Costs are subject to change to change without notice.

Each team is responsible for securing funding for their team's clothing. There are a variety of ways to fund the team's clothing which may include:

    • A local cost center of a supporting business unit
    • Your local market's community development dollars
    • Team members pay for the total cost
    • Fundraisers to help offset the cost

Once you have made your funding decision, contact David Naelon at david.naelon@wachovia.com for instructions on how to order team clothing.

  1. Communicate. Be sure to establish good lines of communication with team members about activities, rides, and details about the Bike Tour. Email distribution groups are the easiest and most effective way to communicate to a large group. Depending on the team size, you may also organize team rides or socials to keep everyone informed and motivated. Be sure that all team members have the link to your Team Wachovia Web site to get information.
  2. Focus on fundraising. Use these fundraising ideas on this site or be creative in coming up with new ones. Stay focused on the mission of the team to raise the largest amount of money possible for the MS Society.
